The Social Security Administration considers a medically determinable impairment as one which is caused by a physiological, psychological or anatomical impairment and can be supported by accepted diagnostic techniques. All medically determinable mental and physical impairments must be supported and established by medical evidence. The medical evidence must also document all symptoms, laboratory findings and signs of the impairment. Statements by claimants declaring they are disabled will not be enough evidence for the Social Security Administration to make a determination of disability.
