This is most common when a claimant has Meniere’s disease. In order to qualify a claimant must undergo a series of tests, namely some form of a caloric test, they must have hearing loss, and most importantly suffer frequent episodes of balance problems associated with vertigo, a sensation of ringing and a worsening of a loss of hearing .

For this condition to be severe enough to meet the Social Security Administration's listing the claimant must have:

  • Vestibular disturbance shown through a caloric or other test; AND
  • Hearing loss established by an audiometry.
