Peptic Ulcer Disease
Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) refers to a discrete mucosal defect in the portions of the gastrointestinal tract (gastric or duodenal) exposed to acid and pepsin secretion. In order to qualify the claimant must have documented information including x-rays or some other form of imaging technique.
- Recurrent ulceration after surgery despite therapy; OR
- Inoperable fistula; OR
- Inoperable fistula; OR
- Recurrent obstruction of the intestine demonstrated on x-rays; OR
- Significant weight loss.
