Contraction of Peripheral Visual Fields in the Better Eye

Social Security considers you blind if either your best eye cannot be corrected to better than 20/200, or your visual field is less than or equal to 20 degrees with the aid of corrective lenses. The Social Security Act recognizes the difference between blindness and other disabilities, and a great majority of the rules that generally apply to disabled persons do not apply to blind persons. To find out more information about Social Security benefits for blind persons, please contact us or the Social Security Administration.
